CanTeen
Australian organization for young people living with cancer. Provides updates for CanTeen events and happenings. Also has a "Members Only" area. Persons with cancer 12-24 years of age are eligible.

Coping with Chemo | Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation

Online animated stories that help teens cope with the challenges of having cancer, including getting diagnosed, dealing with grief and isolation, telling friends about the diagnosis, and the side effects of treatment.  

Don't Be a Schmuck
Website focused on testicular cancer from a teen perspective and written by a survivor. Provides straightforward info on detection, diagnosis, and treatment.

Group Loop

Teenage Cancer Trust
British organization that focuses on developing adolescent units in hospitals. Sponsors a conference, called "Find Your Sense of Tumor", for young people with cancer.

Teen Impact
Site developed by the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles that contains support group info for teens with cancer in the Los Angeles area, as well as general cancer information.

Teen Info on Cancer

TIC is a website providing information for teenagers affected by cancer. It is run and maintained by Cancerbackup. It offers advice and support on how to cope with cancer, and the chance to share experiences of cancer with other teenagers.

Teens Living with Cancer
Built in partnership between Melissa's Living Legacy Foundation and the Children's Oncology Group. Contains detailed information about cancer treatment, physical care, and back-to-school issues as well as survivor stories. Also has an online medical dictionary and a bulletin board.

Ben's Game
Downloadable game designed by Ben Duskin (with help from folks at Lucas Arts) as his wish from the Make-a-Wish Foundation. The object of the game is to destroy cancer cells and collect shields to protect against common side-effects.

Cancer Game
Features a cancer game that a survivor created for a college project. Also has a link to the game creator's own site, which contains info about treatment, diagnosis, and cancer facts.

Captain Chemo
Developed by the Royal Marsden Foundation in the UK. Houses the Flash-animated Captain Chemo game. This recently updated site also has lot of info on cancer treatments, side effects, and procedures.

Organizations Involved in Financial Support or Scholarships

Stephen T. Marchello Scholarship Foundation
Started by the parents of a person with cancer. Provides scholarships to high school survivors and links to other scholarships.

The SAMFund

The SAMFund is a unique non-profit organization created to assist young adult survivors of cancer with a successful transition into their post-treatment life, by providing financial support through the distribution of grants and scholarships.

 

The National Collegiate Cancer Foundation

The National Collegiate Cancer Foundation's mission is to provide services and support to college students who have been diagnosed with cancer. They have recently created a competitive scholarship awards program to provide financial support to college students seeking to continue their higher education while still undergoing treatment. 

 

The Nicki Leach Foundation

The Nicki Leach Foundation exists to provide financial support to teenagers and young adults living with life threatening cancer.  We would like to help young adults financially while they are undergoing treatment for cancer.  We want to make them smile!


The Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults

Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation
Organization founded to provide support, education and advocacy for children and adolescents with cancer, survivors of childhood/adolescent cancer, their families and the professionals who care for them.

Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Canada
Offers a "Kids and Teens" section with resources for young people as well as info about the Candlelighters scholarship program and how to join their "National Teen Network" in Canada.

CancerCare
Web site for an organization that provides free professional support services to anyone with cancer. Programs include counseling, education, financial assistance and practical help.

Cancer Council Australia
Australia's national non-government cancer control organization. Site features info relating to cancer and treatment as well as a "Find a specialist" feature. Also contains links to state and territory organizations and other cancer sites.

CureSearch
Maintained by the National Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Children's Oncology Group. In the "For Patients" section, features a lot of info about cancer and treatment in different phases of the condition ("Newly Diagnosed", "In Treatment", etc.). Also features essays written by survivors.

fertileHOPE
Devoted to the topic of fertility in cancer patients. Contains info about the effects of cancer treatments on fertility as well as options for preserving and protecting fertility. Also includes a bulletin board, info about financial aid, and a physician locator.

Outlook- Life Beyond Childhood Cancer
Extensive info about treatment, physical care, school issues, employee rights, stress management, insurance/financial concerns, etc. Received Excellence in Cancer Patient Education award from the National Cancer Institute.

People Living With Cancer
Contains lots of info about a large spectrum of cancer-related topics, including: types of cancer, clinical trials, coping, side effects, a Find an Oncologist database, and patient support organizations. There is also a section specifically for teens with cancer.

Vital Options International and The Group Room Cancer Talk Radio Show
Web site of the Vital Options International organization and "The Group Room Cancer Talk Radio Show." Schedules are available as well as downloads and streams of past shows.

Organizations Providing Camps and Recreational Activities

Children's Oncology Camping Association International (COCA)

An extensive assembly of organizations providing camping grounds for young people with cancer.  An excellent resource for those looking for a camp in the U.S. or Canada.

 

Camp Quality Australia

An organization that supports approximately 185 recreational camps and activities throughout every territory in Australia. Camps are available for young people with cancer aged 0-18. Siblings and family members are welcome.

 

CanTeen Australia

This group organizes over 80 camps  and hundreds of programs throughout Australia for it's members aged 12-24 as well as their siblings and offspring.  Founded in 1985, CanTeen Australia offers camps and programs throughout Australia.

 

CanTeen New Zealand

Offers summer camps, weekends away, workshops, support groups, and other social and recreational events throughout New Zealand.  Like CanTeen Australia, they have supported members aged 13-24 and their siblings since 1985.
